Tummy tuck surgery, also known as abdominoplasty, removes excess fat and skin and, in most cases, restores weakened or separated muscles creating an abdominal profile that is smoother and firmer.
A tummy tuck should be the last resort for people who have exhausted all other measures, and the procedure should not be used as an alternative to weight loss.
A tummy tuck is suitable for both men and women who are in good overall general health.
Tummy Tuck is meant for people with a sagging abdomen which looks protruded. Even individuals of otherwise normal body weight and proportion can develop an abdomen that protrudes or is loose and sagging. The most common causes of this include:
➞ Prior surgery
➞ Significant fluctuations in weight
Depending on your desired results, this surgery can take anywhere from one to five hours. The complexity of your particular situation also will determine whether you have it completed as an in-patient or outpatient procedure.
The Procedure is done in a General Anaesthesia.
The Abdomen is cut from hip bone to hip bone. The incision will be made low, at about the same level as your pubic hair. The surgeon will then manipulate and contour the skin, tissue and muscle as needed. Your belly button will have a new opening if you undergo this procedure, because it's necessary to free your navel from surrounding tissue. Drainage tubes may be placed under your skin and these will be removed in a few days as your surgeon sees fit.
➞ There will be a bandage on your abdomen after the surgery. The bandage used will be a firm, elastic band that promotes proper healing. We will instruct you on how to best position yourself while sitting or lying down to help ease pain.
➞ You will have to severely limit strenuous exercise for at least six weeks.
➞ Most people undergoing the procedure generally love their new look.
